A Problem! May 26

Running the wrong way was a problem. My time may have been better!

Bolder Boulder May 26

Good People--Ben, Amanda, Mom, Kortney, Paul (the 47 minute MAN), the old man.
Good Food--lots of free food--well not free comes with the participation fee. A Michelob Ultra, chocolate soy milk, which was like a dessert. Ice cream bars, energy bars--I picked up a jug of fruit and vegetable juice--taste like chicken no like grape juice. Pretty good.
Good Exercise--heavy on the exercise--I averaged 11-12 minute miles for the 6 miles. I ran the whole thing this year and beat my last years time by 14 minutes. Kortney improved even more and beat her old dad. All in all everyone improved their times--I'm proud everyone! It was fun, lots of people, not as many as last year. It was too cold, 50's, a little rain, after the race we were all cold so we didn't stay for the Memorial Day festivities--the 4 jet fly over and music.
Great Retirement--Jan and I rode the bus so we headed home, everyone else went to eat. We stopped at Gallup Cafe, Zuni and 32nd. Nice patio but too cold, more of a deli, very big sandwiches.

Bolder Boulder May 26

Can you believe it I ran the whole way--6+miles. More later.

Highland Canal Bike Ride May 23

Good People--Ray and Steve. You've met them from previous rides.
Good Food--Steve is leaving for Italy, Paris--tomorrow, so he didn't join us for lunch. But, he did send us to Los Dos Postillas at Holly and County Line(not sure of spelling and can you believe it I didn't take a picture). The place was busy for lunch on a Friday, our burro's were just right with the green chile sauce, good size and reasonable $6.50.
Good Exercise--We rode the Highland Canal from Gibbon Rec Center at University and Arapahoe north to Quincy Road--18 miles. Very flat, wide and the homes were out of our price range. Nice scenery of the mountains with some clouding before the rain. Very pleasant ride for visiting. We plan to do the entire Highlands Canal this summer--join us.
Great Retirement--We got out by 9:30 before all the others. Several runners and some other old retirees riding by.

Rockies Game May 21

Good People--John and Steve. Jan and I returned from Ketchum on Tuesday night, Steve called, we planned a Rockies Game outing the next day. Quick planning and easy to plan with guys--John is always willing to join in.
Good Food--Foot long brats and beer. An all American outing.
Good Exercise--We rode the Light Rail so not much exercise other than a little hike to pick our free tickets on the 4th row. Thanks you for the tickets--you know who you are.
Great Retirement--Some people were working on their cells during the game and some had to head back to the office. Not us! Nice weather, good people, good food--the Rockies lost in the 10th inning.

A Chorus Line May 9

Good People--Jan, my date
Good Food--Tamayo has a great Happy Hour! Kinda small portions, but small prices too. Great guacamole.
Good Exercise--None on this outing.
Great Retirement--We both enjoyed the Chorus Line, I thought there would be more singing and dancing. Thank You, Creekside Church for the gift.

Fire Hydrant 5 May 10

Good People--Amanda, Kortney and mom! Kortney ran with her dog Maddy, Amanda's dog is not good with a bunch of other dogs so she took a shelter dog, Dinger, he wanted to smell the roses after a mile or so. Sadie, my running buddy, cut her foot, she was on the injured reserve list.
Good Food--Starbucks coffee after--cold day.
Good Exercise--Kortney and I finished in the 10 minute/mile range. We all walked the 1k in a blazing time.
Great Retirement--I enjoyed our time with our girls and their pet friends.

Aurora Reservoir-Good Times May 9

Good People--Steve--yes, we beat the rain. We were rained out yesterday. Nice shower today.
Good Food--Good Times burgers and custard, we had to replace the calories.
Good Exercise--almost 9 miles, fairly flat around the reservoir, windy, would be hot on sunny day, no trees. For us old duds and dudetts, porta potties very mile or so. Get on the trail near the club house on almost any sidewalk. We parked on a street and rode the sidewalk in-no fee.
Good Retirement--Good Times!!

Dinner with Amanda May 6

Good People--Our first born, Amanda. Mom was at Bunko, so I took the light rail to downtown. She is hosting her companies booth at the convention center for recruiting women, minority and veteran owned businesses.
Good Food--Since she was on her expense account we ate at Venice Restorante and Grill, 17 & Wynkoop. Not amazing food but good, so so tarmasu. The wine was the highlight, Amanda's comment about her chardonnay/pinot blend "I like the crispness of the pinot and the buttery taste of the chard!" Maybe she should be a wine taster. I forgot to take a picture of us, but I did get one of the wines, for future reference on our Italy trip.
Good Exercise--Not much other than walking around downtown.
Good Retirement--Being with our grown young adult children is joy filled, educational and encouraging. I am proud, amazed and most of all they are a delight to be around.

First of May Weekend May 4

Good People--On Saturday, Jan, Sadie and I went for a run/walk on the Piney Creek trail behind our house. There is always good conversation on walks. Sunday after church, Jan and I went down to Confluence Park, River Front Park for lunch, some walking and shopping at REI (big sale this weekend). KJ, we bought mom a bike helmet. Fire Hydrant 5 runners, we bought some new running socks, too. I talked to a couple of people from the rec center that were out ridin'.
Good Food--We picked up a salad and sandwich from EYT in our new favorite downtown neighborhood that is west of Union Station, with parks along the South Platte. So-So food, but their gelato was worth a couple of bowls. Too many great flavors to pick a fav.
Good Exercise--Sadie and I ran our 3+ miles and walked another 3 or so with Jan (900 calories). Sadie's picture shows a tired dog since she did the 6 and ran a bunch more.
Great Retirement--We are blessed!
